Brothers and Sisters,

They say that disaster, calamity, and catastrophic illness hits one harder when it hits closer to home. I spoke last night with Rey Fuentivilla and here is the scenario. His 2 years and 4 months old son has a defective heart valve and will undergo staged surgeries. He has developmental delay such as inability to walk related to his condition. He is weak, short of breath and cyanotic (bluish) in his lower extremeties. This is typical of congestive heart failure.

They will be arriving in Manila on 11/4/06 and will have the 1st of a series of heart surgeries on 11/6/06. Cost will be about 400,000.00 pesos. The ACM group in the Philippines is doing their part also. They have asked for voluntary contributions from members, they will also be selling items to raise funds for this cause. An ACM member in China is putting up a blog site to chronicle the events and progress.

I would like to appeal for your financial support and prayers for Rey and his family as they go through this catastrophic ordeal. I hope and pray that this does not happen to any of us. St. Irenaeus said that "the glory of God is the human person fully alive."

On behalf of Rey, thank you in advance for your financial and spiritual support.

Dale Almenario
Chairman Special Relief Committee

Dear Fr. Ed "Cohiba" E. & Mr. Billy "with the lovely wife Beth" T.,

While my greetings will surely pale alongside such luminaries as Fr. Roland & Fr. Greg, I'd like to sincerely extend my congratulations to both of you for joining the interim board team of Joebalt, Boy, Manny, Fr. Ed J., Gem & Fr. Kiks and I'm confident that with your assistance you will forge the VAI into a serious charitable organization for the poor and the needy.

We've been concerned about the situation of angel Claude Wayne and I've asked my brother Michael to get in touch with a close friend and very prominent surgeon in Manila who hopefully may be able to provide or coordinate services together with Ate May & Bantay Bata and the PCSO.

I'll apprise you of possible developments but in any event I should be in Manila in a couple weeks and will try to get in touch with Fr. Greg regarding our own small contribution.

God bless & with warmest regards to all,
Joe Arteche

Rey Fuentevilla,

We heard of the plight of your beloved son and the CMs at Adamson have some donation for you. Please contact Fr. Max Rendon to get it. Additionally, should you need a place to stay when you bring your kid for medical procedures, please just tell our superior Fr. Raymond Regua so you can be accomodated in our guest room in San Marcelino.

We pray for you and your intention.

Fr. Gregg

    Fr. Kix,

Thanks for the recognition but this is not about me. This about the plight of the Fuentivillas. It is beyond my understanding how one cannot be touched with what this family is going through. It ticked off my heart as a parent, my diaconal heart, and my heart as a nurse.

kapag wala nang pinagkaiba ang mabuting balita sa ating buhay, doon totoong may kapayapaan, brother. harinawa.
